Learning Plan 7

The document scanning assessment was easy for me, because I already have to scan documents and edit them in Microsoft Word. I did like learning about taking text from a pdf file and copying it to a Word document. It is a very beneficial tool to use, and you only have to do some editing. It was very easy to use the OCR tool in Adobe Acrobat. Also, to be able to scan a form into Adobe and add fields when necessary would save time on creating a new form. I had a little trouble figuring out how to submit my filled out form back to my classmate, but I just misread one of the steps and was ablet to figure it out.

Using the dragon naturally speaking took a little bit to get used to. It took me some patience to configure my voice. I also had trouble with it recongizing what I was saying and certain commands.

Learning Plan 6

I struggled with certain tasks in this learning plan. For the voice technologies, I had a lot of trouble operating the microphone on my computer. I ended up redoing the assessment a couple times, because I lost my files and than the microphone somehow got disabled even though I didn't change anything. If I changed settings I had to restart my computer in order for the program to work. However, I did find it very easy to narrate a PowerPoint.

For the video technologies I was able to use a video camera very well, because I use one almost everyday anyway. I had a lot of problems with getting the right file format. I still don't know why everything worked on my home computer and not the school computer, even though the programs used to play the video were the exact same programs on both computers. I also couldn't figure out how to save a .MOV file to a .AVI or .WMA using Windows Movie Maker. When I go to save it the only option it gave me was to save it as a Movie Maker file. So I could never change the format of my videos.

Learning Plan 5

This learning plan was a little difficult for me at first, because I was not in class when we went over Adobe Photoshop Elements. I was able to figure out most of the features I had to use by looking at my other classmates job aids and researching on the internet. One strength was that I can be a fast learner. Using some of the tools was a little difficult, because it took some digging to find out more about them. I have trouble with feathering a picture when you type in the pixels, because you can only type in a certain number or it won't work. Using the lasso tool can be very time consuming and frustrating. For my job aid I used the marquee tool, and I liked that a lot. I feel it could be beneficial to edit a picture using this for a company. I love that you can blur the background of a picture so only the important part of the image stands out.

Learning Plan 4 Inputting Images

Most of my strengths for this learning plan are in the area of digital pictures and scanning. My camera is a digital camera, so I am good and importing my pictures from my camera to my computer. At the job I work at, one of the tasks I do everyday is scan documents into the computer. I know how to use all the settings and tools. I also scan pictures and edit them on the computer.
My weaknesses for this learning plan was learning about the tablet PC and digital pen. I've never used them before. I also have never used Microsoft OneNote. It was difficult to try to figure it out by watching the video. I needed to have help from a classmate to teach me some of the basics. Once I figured out how to take notes, I thought it was pretty easy from there. I love that you can convert your handwritten notes to text.

Learning Plan 3 PDAs

This learning plan was fun for me. I didn't know PDAs could do all the things we learned about. They are very easy to work with and very user friendly. I thought it is great that you can transfer Microsoft files from your computer to the PDA. It is nice in the business setting to be able to transfer your business card to someone else without worrying about carrying your card with you. Being able to schedule meetings and tasks on these devices is very convenient, especially if you don't have access to a computer. Also, if you already have a calendar or contacts in Outlook on your computer you can just transfer everything from one device to the other.

Learning Plan 2 Digital Distribution (E-mail & fax)

I didn't think I was going to like Learning Plan 2, because we were still using Outlook. However, I did enjoy learning all the extra features with Outlook. I can see how using it in a business setting can be very beneficial. It was very easy to set up a calendar and schedule meetings and other events. I did have a hard time with some of the filtering features when I would try to arrange certain tasks.
The faxing part of the learning plan was very easy for me. I use a fax at the job I work at now. However, one thing I did learn was that you can send faxes and receive them to your E-mail online. I enjoyed doing the research on the different Web sites that offered this, and checking out the prices for how much it costs.

Strengths & Weaknesses From Learning Plan 2

One weakness is that I've never used Microsoft Outlook before, but a strength that can go along with that is that I'm a fast learner. I have heard many people say how they don't like Outlook. After using it, I don't really prefer it. It is pretty easy to navigate once you know what you are doing. It would not be my choice for E-mail using, however, if I had to use it for my job, I would have to get used to it. There are too many features to look for in Outlook.
Another strength from this learning plan is already knowing how to use a fax machine. I use a pretty basic fax machine where I work now. The menus tell you what you need to know or look for. I never knew you could send a fax online though. That would be beneficial to me where I work now.
Overall, I thought E-mail would've been an easy learning plan, but using Outlook for me is a little confusing.
